Gateway’s Silvio do Carmo appointed to ICT Board of Mozambique

Silvio- MD Gateway Comms East Africa & Angola.

We are proud to announce that Silvio do Carmo, Managing Director for Gateway East Africa, has recently been appointed to join the foreign advisory committee for the ICT sector in Mozambique by Venancio Massingue, the Minister of Science & Technology.

Mozambique has one of the fastest growing economies in southern Africa and is committed to the rapid adoption of information technology. There is a wide range of ICT initiatives under way in the country, the Government Electronic Network (GovNet) Pilot being just one of them.

It is part of the country’s national ICT policy implementation strategy, which aims to improve public services and increase transparency in the public sector. The pilot, with aims to provide a unified email and intranet system, has established a common communications platform for the Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science and Technology, among others.

Gateway is at the forefront of driving African connectivity. It is appointments like these that demonstrate the passion of our people to promoting the adoption of information technology across Africa. Silvio is an asset to Gateway and will now also be an asset to the Government of Mozambique. We are certain that this will be one of many exciting developments in his career and I offer him my sincere congratulations.
